A busy week this week at Grinning Soul Records as we enjoyed “Welsh half term” and sold out of Chapelle Roan records.
Lots going on aside from a busy shop, though. We have quite a bit of news to get through as fast as we can (so you can go off and listen to more records).
Record Store Day Update
The wish lists have been collated and our orders have gone in with the record company distributors. We will be providing more information in the coming weeks about what you can expect from us, but be sure for now we are getting very excited now our requests have been submitted. Watch this space.
A Few Words on A Complete Unknown
I saw “the Dylan movie” this week. And as I don’t have much time to write things up at the moment, here’s a quick video on my thoughts, and a reminder we are very pleased (now I’ve seen the movie) to be stocking the OST.
We’re on TikTok
Which is an app that resembles a complete nervous breakdown. But still, the kids like it. We’re having lots of fun over there, so if you also use it, give us a follow and say hi.
Pre-order of the week
There’s a chance this might become a weekly feature — this week, at least, it’s been inspired by the popularity of this very special release on our website. Here’s some blurb…
Pink Floyd at Pompeii - MCMLXXII, the groundbreaking 1972 film directed by Adrian Maben. Digitally re-mastered from the original 35mm footage, with enhanced audio newly mixed by Steven Wilson. Set in the hauntingly beautiful ruins of the ancient Roman Amphitheatre in Pompeii, Italy, this unique film captures Pink Floyd performing an intimate concert with additional rare behind-the-scenes footage of the band beginning work on The Dark Side of the Moon at Abbey Road Studios. The accompanying album release will see the performance presented on vinyl for the first time. The 2025 remix by Steven Wilson is newly available on 2xCD, 2xLP, Bluray and DVD.
And you can preorder your copy (out May 2nd) via this link to our website.
And here’s our St David’s Day playlist.
