There is a danger that Record Store Day could swallow up the whole of the universe, like something from a Douglas Adams novel. But here at Grinning Soul Records we’re going to try and keep our feet on the ground and not get swallowed. That said, we are very excited, in our first year, to announce GSR will be officially taking part in Record Store Day UK (if you’re not quite up to speed with the phenomenon that is RSD, a day designed to help promote the vigour and vim of independent vinyl shops, some twenty-odd years ago, then do have a bit of an exploration of their website here).
What it means for us, is we’ll be able to stock an array of tasty limited edition special releases from some of your favourite bands. The lists haven’t been released yet, but when it is (usually in February, I’m led to believe), then you as a loyal customer can have a peruse and let us know what you’d most like to see in stock. We can add that survey to our own list-of-punts, and the whole RSD should be a thing of semi-chaotic beauty.
There will be more updates in the newsletter and on our social media as and when updates become things we have to put out.
In other news… well, the others news is a reiteration of old news. If you want to order with us online, our website is improving in its evolution to world-conquering god-like music-buying facility every day. You should use it. Secure your copy of new releases, bag yourself some classic collectibles, and have them delivered to your door (thus sidestepping the charm and wit of a visit to the shop) or you can indulge in the charm and wit of a visit to the shop and reserve them for collection.
For a little taster of some of the awesome new titles we’ve added to the GSR collection this week, check out Graham’s croaky little video from yesterday here.
And if you can’t get your hands on any of our delicious vinyl this week, then feel free to tease yourself with this quick playlist we’ve put together featuring tracks from some of the latest stuff we’ve had in.
Love you all. See you soon.
